about the symposium

University of Sydney, 27 - 29 June 2023

Participants will be invited to a three-day symposium at the University of Sydney on 27 - 29 June 2023, hosted by the Sydney Environment Institute. During the symposium, chapter drafts will be discussed, for inclusion in an edited volume. We welcome scholarly works in the social sciences and humanities, as well as artistic contributions including poetry and fiction spanning disciplinary boundaries and geographical divides. Indigenous and Global South perspectives, experiences, and knowledges will be centrally foregrounded within the project. Works presented during the symposium will be compiled into an edited volume of chapters of up to 4,000 words each, submitted to an academic press in December 2023. In the spirit of broadening conversations across and beyond academia, we aim to submit our collection to an open-access academic publisher.
